Academic Readiness Program (Classes for 5 to 8 years old)
Every child is unique and different. When preschoolers graduate from Kindergarten to Primary / Grade School, they are expected to be ‘ready for school’. However this expectation can be unfair to some of the children, as not all children are ready for formal learning at the same time.
Think of the child who has difficulties paying attention, or is fidgety, unable to seat still or who still has problem grasping his pencil. The truth is, each individual experiences a different pace in sensory and physical development. This affects their ability to remember what they see, hear and do, ultimately affecting their ability to learn.
According to College of Vision Development (US), 1 in 10 children can have a visual skill problem (eg. eye tracking, focusing etc) significant enough to impact learning. Studies done in several countries including Iceland, Canada, Israel, Sweden and Taiwan show children who are at the young end of their grade cohort are more likely to get an ADHD diagnosis than their older classmates, as these could be attributed to the difference in the developmental, social and emotional maturity.
Our Academic Readiness Program allows children to develop self-regulation, auditory - visual processing and memory skills, so that they can be prepared for formal learning. Without these core skills, extra Lessons / Tuition will not be able to achieve any optimal progress.
A list of symptoms which indicate a child may be lacking with the core skills for learning:
- Having Attention issues
- Poor Balance & Motor skills
- Poor Posture
- Skipping Words & Lines
- Seemingly Careless despite Tremendous Effort
- Difficulties Copying
- Difficulties Writing
- Slow Learners
